Small Town Living

The nice part about living in a small town: When you don't know what you're doing, someone else always does.

And as a sign of His covenant, He set the rainbow in the sky, "the sign of the covenant which I have established between me and all flesh that is upon the earth."

Ahhhhhhh, the smell of rain! One of my favorite smells! Can you have favorite smells? If not we should. I could definitely tell you my worst...but I'll refrain. Seriously, I love the way the rain smells, how it instantaneously makes everything brighter, cleaner, greener. We just stood on the steps of the porch and listened and breathed it in. Either it's very dry in our area or we are very bored? No, not bored, just very thankful for the rain, 'cause we sure needed it.

Hubby wanted the kids to see the double rainbow. Don't know if you can see the other one or not, but it was there. Scouts honor! Son #2 asked how it forms, where it ended and what was at the end of it. Of course I said, a pot of gold, but what I should have said was golden streets, because all I can think of when I see a rainbow is God's promise. At the end of every blessing, you find God! As for what makes a rainbow...again.....all God!

I hope and pray that when life dumps rain on me that I will be still and breathe it in. I've been guilty this past week of not breathing at all! I had to take a whipping at church yesterday for my bad attitude. I'm so glad he loves me enough to reprimand me! Keeps me in line!! I so need that!! The best part of all...he forgave me...again!

Bring on the rain!

Blessings to all,

Carrie

Ya'll its Friday!!!

Whew...what a week. I'm looking for the weekend baby!! Why, I don't know? Because weekends are usually busier than my work week! Anyhoo, I'll be at home!

I sat down last night at the piano and turned to a song called, "We'll Talk It Over In The Bye & Bye", or something like that. BTW.....this piano is one I got from my MawMaw...you know the kind that sounds like an old bar piano:) Just a different sound than my other piano. I love it! I play the piano....for myself....mind you, unless I happen to be the only one at church on business night and my Dad makes me play. I have to pick the song:) That should clue you in on how skilled I am at playing the thing. I do love to try. My sister P is the master pianist. Enough of all that...on to the point...I think I have one......the song just summed up what I've been thinking lately. The song talks about how we get to ask the questions and He will tell the why, when we get to heaven. All these earthly trials and tribulations will make sense then. I look forward to the day when We talk it over! Chills people!!! Especially after hearing of the little boy, Trevor, who had this horrific accident.

Our problems are under His feet! That comforts me!

So, at the close of this work week, I want to hold my hands high and look up to the One who knows our tomorrows!

Have a Great Weekend Everyone!

Leaving you the words to the song....

Tho' shadows deepen, and my heart bleeds,I will not question the way He leads; This side of Heaven we know in part,I will not question a broken heart.

Chorus

We'll talk it over in the bye and bye. We'll talk it over, my Lord and I.I'll ask the reasons - He'll tell me why,When we talk it over in the bye and bye.

I'll trust His leading, He'll never fail,Thru darkest tunnels or misty vales.Obey his bidding and faithful be,Tho' only one step ahead I see.

Chorus
We'll talk it over in the bye and bye. We'll talk it over, my Lord and I.I'll ask the reasons - He'll tell me why,When we talk it over in the bye and bye.

I'll hide my heartache behind a smileAnd wait for reasons 'til after while. And tho' He try me, I know I'll findThat all my burdens are silver lined.

Chorus

We'll talk it over in the bye and bye. We'll talk it over, my Lord and I.I'll ask the reasons - He'll tell me why,When we talk it over in the bye and bye.

Another Update on Trevor:

They found air pockets on Trevor’s brain. Also blood. She called asking us to keep praying. They say if he even moves, it could kill him.

I just received an update on Trevor:

He doesn’t have any brain damage. He has broken bones and they are concerned about his eye and eye socket. He is facing surgeries. Continue praying for him in the coming days of surgery and recovery.

As a Mom, I can't imagine the fear that would overwhelm you after hearing your child has been hurt so bad that he needed air transport. But God's grace is sufficient! Yesterday's devotion sums it up. "Give it to God! Look up and say, "Lord, I'm trusting You to do what I cannot do. Bring me through this. Here it is; I'm turning it over to You. My life, my future, and my all are in Your hands!" Ya'll just don't know how troubled I've been over some things, and wouldn't you know it....ask and you shall receive.....just when I needed to hear from Him, He showed up today with His answer too my dilemma through His Word and from His Vessels! Ain't God Good!!!! I want to thank Him and praise Him for loving me! My answer was summed up in these 4 words, "Stick to the plan!" I opened up my devotion and it was like the words just came off that page and slapped me across the face, saying, "wake up girl, you are under attack by Satan." And you know what? This too shall pass! He will make a way! I'll I've got to do is, HOLD ON! Yes, I will with everything in me, I will!

Sorry about all that, I was just sitting here after hearing better news about Trevor, and having me a happy spell and it was just in me and I had to get it out! Now, I feel better:) lol!!!!!!!!!!!!

Another Thankful Thursday! It is Well With My Soul!

Carrie

Urgent Prayer Request!

Please offer up prayers for a young boy, Trevor, who had an accident at our local hardware store. Something fell on him and his younger brother found him. He was air-lifted to Children's Hospital.

Lift up Trevor and his family in prayer. We know that through God all things are possible!

Thank you!

Update #2....TW consented to posting the pic of her Dollar General sunglasses...what do ya think? Keepers or Not?

Friends!
Update below:

Me with Sisters C, P and KT...putting on the ritz....vacation style:) lol!!!!

What a nice surprise to run into an old friend of mine during my lunch break the other day! We had the best visit right there in Goody's. This girl and I were once upon a time, glued at the hips. We did everything together. Always at each other's house. Her Mom was my bus driver, and would you believe it, her Dad is my son's yellow limo driver too:) lol!!!!! Oh what fun times we had on that bus:) She would get to stay at my house while her Mom did the rest of her route, 'cause we were one of the lucky ones who got off first. We cheered together in the pee wee years, and played basketball from grade school on up. We loved to ride 4 wheelers, ride bikes, wrestle...yes, girls do that....and just play outside......girly, girls..we were not! I reckon the cheer leading thang was just that....something to do. I'm glad we did, because I'll never forget her Dad and another Dad or two, standing on top of the bleachers doing the, "....and we hung 'em on the line...."cheer:) ROFL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What fun!! Glad I didn't miss out on that! And that was our (Hubby and I) first arm holding:) again...ROFL!!!! Those were the days.

Time moves on and the next thing you know you haven't saw your childhood friend in like..... forever! You still think about them, but you never see them. And the saddest part of it all is that they live just 20 miles down the road. It's strange how life happens like that.

We had big dreams back then, and they came true. She is the next thing to being a doctor, married with the cutest little 3 year old boy, and you already know about me. It's nice to be reminded of the past. All those memories!

So, in keeping with the old and new friends thang....I've just got to share a few pics with ya! I hope you girls don't kill me:) lol!!!

Do you recognize any of these girls?

Longtime friend Susan.......another Sunday of, "each asking if we could go home with the other:)" Riding in the "station wagon".....definitely another post:) ROFL!!

Wendy & I.....jamming at June Jam IV :) ROFL!!!!!

Stephanie (subject of todays post) and I.....I said we were joined at the hips...looks like elbows:)

Kerri and I......we belong to the War Eagle Club....can you tell we were the only two in the whole stadium not wearing Crimson Red:) lol!!!!

I have so many friends and didn't get to get a pic of all of you on this post....so here is one with as many as I could find in one picture. All of you are near and dear to my heart. I thank God for you!!

TW....I almost put a pic of you with your new Dollar General sunglasses....but I was afraid you would kill me:) lol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you don't mind, just let me know and I'll update the post for all the world to see:) lol!!!!!!!!

God be with you 'til we meet again.......

Carrie

Updated to add this from an email I received today from MIL!!

Thank you each for holding my hand somewhere along the way when I was facing a wave of my own. I hope you will reach for my hand when your own wave threatens.

All of us girls.. Old and young... Near and far... Hold special memories of good times we've shared. We've had our share of hard times when our friends were there to make us feel better. We've shared... our hearts our time our secrets our fears our hopes and our dreams.
Let us never break the chain of friends!

And the word says if 'I have not Love, I have nothing.'
So, again, love you. Love who you are. Look in the mirror in the morning and smile and say
'I am too blessed to be stressed and too anointed to be disappointed!'
I like that!

Be Blessed ladies and pass this on to encourage another woman.
'To the world you might be one person, But to one person you just might be the world'.
SEND THIS TO YOUR FAVORITE WOMEN - I JUST DID!
HERE'S TO YOU MY FRIENDS!

Wisdom Teeth and Code Red!

What do you think these two have in common? If you guessed having them removed and a fire alarm....you guessed right! Wouldn't you know we just couldn't go and have a routine trip to get son #1's wisdom teeth removed. Here's teenage logic for you....why the name, "wisdom teeth." And if the name has anything to do with real wisdom...why remove them? lol!!!! I'm with ya son on things seeming so unnecessary. But as they say, no pain no gain!

Back to what code red had to do with our morning at the oral surgery place. Things are going along just smoothly, when the fire alarm goes off. No biggy! Meanwhile the nurse is administering IV, laughing gas, etc. to son. And she is explaining that a few months ago, they had an inspection and everything with their fire alarm was top notch, they just had to buy more wheelchairs to accommodate x # of patients in case of fire...yata, yata, yata....son is beginning to giggle:)lol!!! Meanwhile the whole time we're conversing, this deafening noise is going off. Next thing I know they are escorting everyone out of the building....except son, nurse and doc....since he's under sedation and hooked to an IV. She and the doc assured me that he would be wheeled out ASAP. Didn't see son outside...just this

Yep, the fire alarm works great....4 fire trucks had that place surrounded in no time flat. And this wasn't a drill. After coast was clear, and no fire detected...back in we go.....only for it to go off again:) lol!!! So much for the top notch fire alarm...but thumbs up to the code red and evacuation plan! All I can say is I didn't get bored and didn't get to read my mags for all the hype.

As for son, he is doing fine and doesn't remember a thing:) lol!!! He still says his pain was soooooo not necessary! You're right son....let me go get you another pill:)

Carrie

Thanks Iris for hosting Thankful Thursday!

Malachi 3:10 (King James Version)
10Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.

Let me tell you my net has been broken by all the blessings God has sent my way! Was I prepared.....yes and no. I had prayed and prayed for my sons to be saved, but the moment it came....11 pm after a long day of work and a ballgame.......I was caught off guard. Thanks to the Good Lord, He whipped me into shape, lickety split! I was engulfed with the Holy Spirit that was radiating from my son and it overflowed onto his Dad and brother! What more can a Mother ask? Not one thing!!!

I heard again last night of another young man who received Christ as his Savior! Praise the Lord! I'm looking forward to Sunday to see another sweet boy be baptized. People it just can't get any better! The Lord is moving in a mighty way!!

So, today as I come with a thankful heart, I also want to request prayers for some dear friends of mine. Please pray for:

Brenda-possible stroke and in the hospital
Charles-heart problems-stress test today
Steve-recovering from back surgery
Bynum-facing pace maker surgery
Larry-recovery from heart attack
Dottie-cancer

There are so many more. Feel free to leave a comment if you have a prayer request you would like for me to add.

Join me in lifting our hands in praise to our Heavenly Father for all His Love and Mercy!

Blessings to all,

Updated to add: Bear with me on my lop-sided blog....technical diffculties due to the operator:) lol!!!! Work in progress here:) lol!!!!!!!!! I'm famous for starting a project, then months later finishing it......welcome to my life.....btw.....maybe I should just leave it the way it is......to keep it real:) But my OCD won't let me!

I've posted a couple of photo shows that I've been trying to get up and going. No explanation needed on either of them......pictures tell a thousand words!

As for the new poll on my sidebar.......my friend TW emailed me that clip of Dolly a few weeks ago. Just so ya know....I voted, "strange!" She thinks it's so sad:( lol!!!!!!!!!!!! If you listen to the song, seeing you can get past her facial expressions and ventriloquist voice skill's, it is a sad story....but come on people.....just look at her:) lol!!!!!!!!!!! TW's hubby and his first cousin CB, both think it is hysterical and he went into this laughing so hard you can't breathe episode when she showed him the video. I'm with ya JW!!! So, be a pal and vote...please!! She's just gotta know she isn't the only person in the world who thinks this is sad:) lol!!!!!!

I haven't posted about Mom in a while, due to the fact that she has been doing quite well! She is still pushing herself to the limit, but hey, I give her an A for effort! One determined lady!! Today was her montly visit to B'ham, and all is well. She will go back on July 7th, for another heart cath......she hates this test....please pray it won't be as bad as the last one! After those results, they may put the port in her chest.

That about sums it up for now!

Blessings,

Day lilies, rosemary, hosta, and I have no idea the name of the purple thing in the back:)

High five to Lisa for putting this garden par-tay together! Did you plan on it being "Friday the 13th?" :) lol!!!!!!!!!!! Hope my flowers don't die:) lol!!!!!!!!!!!!

I subscribe to several magazines.....another hangup.......RealSimple, Country Living and Southern Living are my favorites. I love to see all the beautiful gardens, cheap, quick transformations of different rooms indoors and out. Hubby dreads seeing the mail run:) He knows a project is in the making.

So without further ado.......here is one project that wasn't an idea from any magazine I've ever saw...it was birthed from the mind of dear hubby:) lol!!!!!!!!! Now take into account this project is not finished. I was informed it has 4 phases. He has completed 2! I'll update with pics when complete......seeing the Hubby is having some trouble with his knee.......there has been no date set for completion at this time.

Phase 1

Phase 2-Completed!

All jokes aside........Hats off to you honey! I'm seeing the vision! Have I mentioned lately that I love you;)

*Note the block wall will have the fake rock on it....and on the other side of the wall will be more concrete for what's left of the driveway.....and hopefully we'll have enough of something to fill in the big hole below the table. Are you seeing the vision?

I wanted to include a shot of my Mawmaw's old metal swing that we've given a face lift. This area is where we wind the day down, look at the stars and listen to Selah! Ahhhhhh sounds sweet doesn't it......we try:) lol!!!!!!! JK.....a girl can dream, can't she:) We just look at it as we are running out the door:) lol!!! And think, yeah in about 10 years:) lol!!!!! This way we have something to look forward to:)

I sat many a times with Mawmaw on this swing as she sang the silly songs and we played, "I Spy." This swing has been around for many a year...Mom remembers this swing as young girl.

Smoke on the Mountain-love this plant!

All time favorite-Sun Fern!

My Mawmaw's favorite-Hydrangea
Hopefully mine will shine like hers...see above....my blog cover.

We are trying our hand at composting......got any tips for us?

New Moms.......to two babes born again!! VBS was such a treat this year! I'm ashamed to say, and asked the Lord to forgive, that it wasn't because of my readiness:) I tend to be a procrastinator! This year was no exception! There is something about the last minute thrill/rush that gets me going! Thanks be to God he overlooked my fault and saw the need!

Our attendance seemed a bit off. However, the Holy Spirit was not! I enjoyed the lesson of, "Water Wonder", so much! Keeping our eyes on the Savior, because when we take them off for just one minute, we begin to drown, as did Peter. For some group talk, I asked the class to give me in one minute flat, a story of when they faced their fears. Oh what responses I got! Just ask Lisa...aka...the preachers wife:) lol!!!!!! It's amazing what kids consider a fear:) Anyway, we had good discussions, and I pray that something said or done at VBS will stir up a desire within to seek and know God.

I'll leave with you some pics of the hot, but oh so Blessed Day!

Voyagers!

The Craft Lady!

My niece J on her special day!

Last, but certainly not least.....our VBS Director...Iris!! Thanks for another great year!!

Urgent Prayer Request!

Update: Caden is home and appears to be doing fine. The doctors cannot explain what happened to cause him to quit breathing. They speculate it was the mucus. Thank you for your prayers. Continue to pray for him and his parents. It's going to be hard to bat an eye, wondering if this could happen again.

I received a call from my friend T last night around 9:30. She was crying so bad I couldn't understand much, except that her nephew had quit breathing. His name is Cayden, I hoped I spelled that correctly, and he is 4 weeks old. While having a family cookout, his aunt was holding him and he just arched his back and quit breathing for like a minute. The family began to pray and beg God to intervene. God did answer their prayer! He was taken to the hospital by ambulance and is doing okay from the last report I got this morning.

The doctors cannot explain what happened. All the tests are coming back normal thus far. He is still in the hospital.

Please pray for these new parents and their family. I cannot fathom how much heartache and grief they are going through, just knowing that they almost lost their only son. My heart breaks for them. Please pray for God's healing to be upon the baby. Also, for the parents as they bring him home. Scared wouldn't begin to describe how they must feel. Not knowing is so hard.

What do know, is that God saved that little boy! God knows our every need! Had they not been at the cookout, he would have been in his crib. Goose bumps!

God is our refuge, our very help in times of trouble, our strength, our Redeemer, and from yesterday's SS lesson, our bridge builder.....another post, another day!

Pray on!

Carrie

One more!!
I mentioned in a previous post about our preacher and his subject that Sunday being, "one more." Praise be to God, he answered that prayer! My niece J, was saved at Bible School on Saturday!
As I was washing a few cups, someone came up to me and said you might want to go upstairs with J. I ran upstairs and there, she, her Mom (my sis) and the preacher were all knelt at the altar praying. Me and my SIL joined in with them. What a beautiful sight to behold. The precious smile on her face will forever be imprinted on my mind. She received the Lord as her Savior! Praise be to God!
Yesterday was so special. My two son's were baptized, along with my niece J. What a hallelujah time! My cup is overflowing with joy! Words cannot express how wonderful God is! We had such a sweet service. The spirit was real!
I don't know about you, but when I feel the spirit so strong like that....I get physically drained. Last night I felt like I had ran a marathon:) lol!!!
I want to thank all of you who have prayed for my kids. Also, a big hug to all of my church family and friends who were there yesterday. You will never know how much that meant to me and my family. I have never felt such love among friends!
My mind is just spinning a mile a minute...I can't type fast enough! I have so many thoughts. I guess what I feel right now is summed in the song, "The Love of God." I've posted about this before, but it says it all. Because what I feel inside right now, would drain the ocean dry if it was filled with ink.......I just can't write it all down.
As soon as I get pics of this weekends blessings, I will post them. I'll have to get them from friends who took pics for me. I took my camera and tried to take pics, but to no avail.....trembling...is the word for my emotional state yesterday.....hubby's too! So, thanks to you who got pics of the baptizing...love you!!
Hebrews 25, Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.
One more, Lord, just one more!!
Keep praying!!

All God's children say, "Amen!"

I got the best text message this afternoon from my friend WL. Her son, BL, was saved tonight at their Bible School, along with 3 more! I've been praying for him and for all the lost. I know how burdened down she has been for the kids at her church and Sunday School class. Sometimes we feel as if they are not getting it, maybe we should do more, less, maybe they are tired of seeing our faces, someone could do better....the questions go on and on. All the while, they do get it, they are listening, God is moving!

My mind keeps going back to what my pastor was preaching on Sunday.........one more Lord, just one more. I feel the presence of the Lord so strong here on this mountain. He is moving in a mighty way!

This picture that WL took last night at Bible school says it all!

My cup runneth over!!

Thanks be to God for sending His Son to die on that cruel cross for such a sinner as I!

Lord Jesus I pray for one more!

Love to all,

Carrie

Thanks to Iris for hosting Thankful Thursday!

I have so much to be thankful for! First and foremost, both of my boys being saved at home a few weeks ago ranks at the top of my list this week....again!! Nothing compares to the Love of God!

I want to share something a read this week that struck a heart string of mine. This just cracked me up and had to share with ya'll. Especially since my two little boys are being baptized this Sunday. Oh, I can't wait until then. What a blessing to see both of my children baptized at the same time. Ain't God Good!

~ Two Little Boys ~

After a hardy rainstorm filled all the potholes in the streets and alleys,
a young mother watched her two little boys playing in the puddle through her
kitchen window.

The older of the two, a five year old lad, grabbed his sibling by the back of his
head and shoved his face into the water hole.

As the boy recovered and stood laughing and dripping, the mother runs to the
yard in a panic.

' Why on earth did you do that to your little brother?!' she asks as she shook
the older boy in anger.

'We were just playing 'church' mommy, ' he said.
'And I was baptizing him.....in the name of the Father, the Son and in...the
hole-he-goes.'

Thanks to my AIL, S, for sharing this typical brother thing. I've watched this scenario play out before my eyes on several occasions, only not in a mud hole, but a swimming pool:) How they love to horse around and play church at the same time:) Priceless!!!

Until then my heart will go on singing.................

Carrie

Besides Gold Bond, Noxzema ranks at the top of my shelf list! With summer, comes the fun of getting blistered at my house! We can get burnt in the shade:) I'm talking water bubbles, fry bacon on your back, peeling blistered! And it's just the first of June, and I'm already on my first jar of this stuff. We pick up the GoldBond when you add sand in the mix:)

Here's the Noxzema trick:

1) Apply over sunburn;

2) Let dry and leave on (do not wash off);

3) Put on your Dad's, Brother's, Husband's, etc......any man's white t-shirt.

Ahhhhh...brings back precious childhood memories of vacations gone bad:) due to excessive exposure to the sun...I can still feel the pain and itch:) Not to mention the ugly brown spots that are remnants of too much sun for this fair, freckled girl. I've switched from self tanners, which augmented my lovely spots, to Lubriderm's SPF 15 lotion, it's my new favorite thing! So, put your blinders on, it's short season, I'm wearing them, lily white legs and all:)

I was going to post this as a WFMW, but she has a theme to this weeks called, "Mom, I'm bored." I didn't think this would qualify as a bored buster for kids.........well, some kids may find lathering themselves in Noxzema a cool thing to do, but for the most part, the smell wards off youngsters:) lol!!!!! You know it involves clean:)

In the event you get a good case of sun poisoning, which I have had twice....once from tanning bed and once in March mowing the yard...go figure......, forget the Noxzema and head straight to the ER....cause your going to need something stronger than a topical analgesic! Just ask Hubby......I think he wanted to be treated for the pain and anguish I put him through getting me there:) lol!!!!

If you have any sunburn relief remedies please leave a comment. I would love to see what works for you! Besides using sunscreen:) lol!!!!!!!!!!! We use sunscreen, but sometimes fun trumps taking the time to apply it............oh the lessons we learn the hard way:)

Have a SPF day!

New Kids on the Blog!

I would love to introduce to you a new blog. Upon writing his first blog,
son #1 and his BF, Hayden, decided it would be neat to enter into the blog world.
So if you want to catch up on what teenagers interests and what's happenings, or
the latest duck hunting adventure, just go and check out Hayden @ wackandstack. You'll be glad you did! Son #1's is currently under
construction....I'll post later when we get it up and running!

This is the weekend in pictures......in no particular order.....

This is what I saw at Mom's house Fri. evening........M's got it made....I miss those days of getting to nap:)

Saturday- I actually left the boys, after, I saw this.........at the new football practice field. BTW....thanks to all who have made this possible! The field...that is:)

Friday- Don't ask me about the score of the game....but the fireworks were out of this world!! Had a great time!

Friday

Me and S messing with the camera:)

Friday- Another tradition passed down to son #2. Except a more modern version, being that I saw it done with a horse pulling the plow......you know the old gee and haw (spelling...not so sure of), but maybe you get the drift. Unless you are like this young guy sitting in church one day when my Dad used the above reference to steering a horse/mule....I cracked up...I could hear him ask his grandmother, "what did he just say.":) lol!!!!!!!! I'm not that old either, Dad just has old fashion values and to go along with that, old equipment. Anyway, it made me smile and at the same time sad. He's growing up way to fast.
I look forward to the weekend.....not for rest....just a change of scenery.
